About This Website

This web site is all about the ongoing maintenance of my 1969 Beetle.
The classic VW Bug is such a fun car to work on but often, some of the
lesser mechanical jobs that could be worked on by the average VDub
enthusiast, are often not made easy to carry out.

There are manuals and text only forums but rarely good old fashioned
photos that actually show you what the part looks like and how exactly
it all slots in to place.

Over the course of the next few months, I have a whole list of work that
needs to be carried out on my Beetle. Most of it cosmetic or simply
replacing faulty, aging or rusty parts. The car is a good runner and in fairly
good condition for 37 years old but there are lots of jobs to keep me busy.
This guide will serve any Bug owner of a 1968 ~ 1970 model, although
there will be some pages that can be used for earlier or later models. As
a rule of thumb, though, models pre 1967 will most likely have more
parts not compatible with models post 1968. Models 1970 ~ 1972 will
probably be ok and models post 1973 will likely have lesser in common.

As I complete each repair, upgrade or cosmetic enhancement, I will upload
some photos of what I have carried out so as to make it easier for others to
also have a try at working on their bugs. The Beetle is a classic car and I
hope my web site will give a boost to maintaining their wonder!
Finally,
You will find this web site devoid of all animations and graphics
except for the banner ads (Its why I get the web space for nothing).
The reason is that I would rather use this web site with good quality
images of the engine part or problem at hand rather than fancy animated
graphics. I think most VDub enthusiasts would agree!

Finally, from time to time I need some help and advice
so I post in the Bath Aircooled Owners Club forum
when I cant work out a problem myself.

You can find them:Here
