Interior Light Unit - Replace

When I bought my Beetle, the Interior light was not working. I bought a replacement
light unit off Ebay UK and set about replacing the faulty light with the new one.

when I took the light unit out from the ceiling mounting It was clear from the outside that
something had happened to the light as a small piece had been snapped off the end, did I see
for myself it had suffered some sort of electrical 'Trauma'. To remove the light unit, just pull
the metal clip inwards and then pull the light down and out.

The black inside the unit in general was not a good sign and it was far from certain that the existing connectors would be
working either, or worse still, it could burn out again.I connected up the metal clip ends as seen above to the existing
two metal clips inside the ceiling mounting. Then I just popped the new unit in place.
