Who Am I?
My
name is Paul. I'm 42 years old. I live in the Town of Melksham,
County Of Wiltshire, Country of England, United Kingdom of Britain
and one of the many of the European Union.
Why
Did I Buy The Car?
Now you ask yourself the key question of WHY? Why buy a 37 year old
car that
has no Air conditioning, heating that takes about 10 years to warm up and
where
if you go over a small pot hole in the road, feels like you have hit a canyon
the size
of Wales!
Well in 2006, my wife sadly passed away after an illness that she had suffered
from over many years. We had a contract hire car through the Motability
Car Scheme but when when my wife died, so the car had to be returned.
Without transport I was unable to get from A-B effectively so I had to buy
a car.
My wife and I had enjoyed a wonderful life together and understandably, I
was
(And still am) missing her like crazy and found a giant hole in my life.
I had always liked Classic VW Beetles and thought of a great way to get transport
and find a way of occupying my mind through the weeks and months ahead when
I couldn't face sitting on my own at home alone.
Looking around for a suitable car, I finally found Marvin.
Green is my favorite
colour and I was delighted to find a green Bug at a price I could afford,
in a good
enough condition so I could work on him when I had the time but where he would
still be a good runner if I did not.
I'm planning to work on small engine issues and cosmetic improvement but I
want
to keep him as original as possible - so no lowering of the suspension, oversized
body parts or any hot-rod type of upgrades to the engine (I know, Boring Right!)
Am I A Skilled Mechanic?
No I'm not but
I am a quicker learner and have recently got stuck
in to a very interesting book - How
To Keep Your Volkswagen Alive
The future is uncertain for all of us but mine, for the
moment is to keep Marvin going for as long as I can
and learn some mechanical skills at the same time.
He
Helps Me And I Help Him!
